My name is Melissa and I have been an Occupational Therapist for over 20 years. I have experience working in community-based NDIS and Aged Care services, hospital settings, inpatient and community-based rehabilitation services and workplace injury management. From many years in the industry, I have experience working with clients across the lifespan and with a wide range of health conditions, injuries and disabilities.
I am passionate about using my clinical skills and experience to provide high quality, evidence-informed services that achieve meaningful outcomes for my clients. I use a collaborative co-design process which helps me to truly understand your unique situation and identify the best solutions to meet your goals and help you to achieve greater independence and more meaningful participation. I genuinely believe that a collaborative approach not only achieves better outcomes but also allows us to learn from each other throughout the process.
I have a special interest in the prescription of home modifications and assistive technology, particularly the more complex solutions that are often necessary to meet the requirements of clients with more complex needs. I have both undertaken and delivered a wide range of specialist training, including for complex home modifications, complex seating, postural assessment and 24 hour postural care. I truly love to witness firsthand the profound and life changing outcomes that home modifications and assistive technology can achieve for clients.
Alongside my clinical work, I have also enjoyed working in various leadership and clinical specialist roles which have allowed me to support the wider OT profession through the provision of clinical supervision, training and mentorship. Witnessing the clinical and professional growth of my fellow OTs has been a very rewarding aspect of this work. All clinicians deserve to have the support they need to feel confident and competent in their clinical work.
