A reflection on my supervision journey
In more than 20 years of clinical practice as an OT, I have been fortunate to have been supported by some very talented and inspiring clinical supervisors and mentors. These very important people have shaped my practice, supported me to grow and challenged me to extend myself. The most inspiring ones have also seen underlying potential, of which I was unaware, and supported me to uncover and grow this potential.
From my own experiences, I know firsthand how much having the right clinical supervisor and mentor can impact on our sense of confidence, competence and mastery in clinical practice. And this is what first inspired me to use my own knowledge, skills and experience to give something back to the profession and support the clinical practice and growth of other clinicians. I believe that building a collaborative and empowering supervisory relationship supports professional reflection and enhances continuing clinical growth and development.
My Experience
I am an Occupational Therapist with over 20 years of experience across a diverse range of practice settings in both Australia and the United Kingdom. My clinical background includes community-based NDIS and aged care services, hospital environments, inpatient and community rehabilitation, and workplace injury management.
Throughout my career, I have held a number of leadership roles, including Service Coordinator, Team Leader, and Clinical Advisor for Home Modifications and Assistive Technology. These positions have enabled me to develop strong skills in clinical leadership, service development, and clinical support.
I have many years of experience providing clinical supervision, training, and mentorship to Occupational Therapists at all stages of their careers—from new graduates to highly experienced clinicians. I am passionate about supporting therapists to build confidence, refine clinical reasoning, and grow their professional capability.
I have experience in the development and implementation of competency frameworks for home modifications and assistive technology which have aimed at supporting clinicians to acquire the knowledge, skills and experience required to work confidently and competently in these specialized areas of practice.
In addition to the provision of structured learning, I have experience in providing hands-on support to assist clinicians develop the practical skills needed to competently prescribe home modifications and complex assistive technology. These are the practical skills they often do not teach you in training courses.
I have completed further professional development and training in clinical supervision, including strengths-based supervision models and techniques, which underpin my collaborative and supportive approach.

1:1 clinical supervision services are available for:

- Businesses requiring specialist clinical supervision for OT teams providing home modifications and assistive technology services.
1:1 clinical supervision services may be undertaken on a regular or ad-hoc basis.
